The designers drew inspiration from the eight scenic spots of Hainan, aiming to promote the local cultural characteristics and tourist culture of the region. They presented these attractions in illustration form on the bottle, creating an interaction between the product, tourist, and scenic spot. The design aims to leave an impressive effect on the tourists, thereby spreading the idea of the product. The neck label is distinguished by a different color, and the surface of the outside box is made of transparent acrylic, allowing the illustration on the bottle inside to be clearly seen.
Yedao Lugui Baijiu is a well-known brand in Hainan, a famous tourist attraction in the south of China known for its tropical monsoon climate. The idea of producing Yedao Lugui Baijiu is to promote the local characteristics of Hainan and convey Hainan's local tourist culture. The design of the bottle and packaging box is simple yet effective, with a dominant blue color and a clear display of the product's features.
The material of the outside box is acrylic and paper, with the technology of the outside box using a gold stamp and silk printing. The bottle is made of glass and uses a craft of roasted flower. The cover of the bottle uses a plastic cover as material and uses baking gold as technology. The packaging box size is 325mm in length, 326mm in width, and 100mm in height.
The project started in October 2018 and finished in May 2019 in Shenzhen. The design team, which included Wen Liu, Xianwen Wu, and Weijie Kang, faced challenges in the early stages of the design process. The outcome of the box shape design was not ideal, as the product details were not well displayed. However, continuous improvements were made in the later stage, resulting in a packaging design that is more prominent in display effect and shelf placement.
The Yedao Lugui Baijiu design is a testament to the power of innovative design in promoting local culture and tourism. By integrating the iconic tourist attractions of Hainan into the product design, the designers have created a unique product that not only serves as a beverage but also as a souvenir that tourists can take home to remember their trip by. This innovative approach to product design sets a new standard for how products can be used to promote local culture and tourism.
